What percent of the 2000 shoppers do no shop at either store?
Q. A survey of 2000 shoppers showed that 1400 shop at Jewel, 850 shop at Dominick s, and 390 shop at both stores. What percent of the 2000 shoppers do not shop at either store?
Asked by Rhea - Fri Dec 4 13:33:39 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you add up the number of Jewel shoppers and Dominick's shoppers, you'll get 2250. But this "double counts" those that have shopped at both stores. Since you know how many shopped at both, subtract that to get a total count of shoppers that went to either store: 2250 - 390 = 1860 Now, since the survey is of 2000 shoppers, and you know that 1860 of them went to at least one of the two stores, you know that 140 went to neither: 2000 - 1860 = 140

How do you connect a windows 2000 computer through a wireless vista computer to the internet?
Q. I'm trying to connect my windows 2000 desktop to the internet but the router is in a different room. I was thinking I could connect an ethernet cable from my wireless laptop to the desktop and bridge the connection. Any help on how I can do that? I don't want to buy a cross over cable unless there is no other way.Or maybe I could make one?

A. One of the nics, either the laptop or desktop may work as an auto crossover, so try the ethernet cable and see if you get link lights on both ends. Otherwise, you can buy a little crossover adaptor that will fit on the end of your ethernet cable to convert it to a crossover cable.

Is it okay to put a 2000 pound pool table on a wood floor, supported by a concrete pier and beam founation?
Q. This house is about fifty years old and the floors are original and sturdy. I have a very heavy antique pool table that weighs about 2000 pounds, 10 feet by four and a half feet. My wife says it will fall through the floor. I think it is ok because the weight will be distributed.

A. What I have done many times for people is crawl under the house with a few pier pads and a couple of posts and beams and shore up more...or just clip beams in between existing beams just to be safe, with metal hangers and nails...better safe than a screwed up floor it only takes a couple of hours...and you might just have the old lumber in the back yd. nite

Asked by omegajasmine - Sat Jan 19 11:34:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Which hose are you referring to? Is it the upper rad hose or lower rad hose? What engine does it have, the 3.0L OHV V6 or 3.0L DOHC 24-valve V6? The hose clamps on this particular car use a "squeeze-clamp" type hose clamps which can be difficult to remove, if the hose is in a difficult to access area. For this job, a special tool like the one pictured in the link below will greatly reduce the time required to service the hose clamps. Hope this helps.

Where is the controller for keyless entry located in a 2000 Trailblazer?
Q. My brother has a 2000 Trailblazer and doesn't have the keyless entry remote for the power locks. He needs to know where in the car the controller is for the keyless entry. He tells me his dad had a 2000 Trailblazer that DID have keyless entry so he's sure this one came with it too. He wants to remove the old controller so he can buy & install a new one. By the way, are there remote starters that also act as keyless remote? Anyhoo, my main question is where is the controller located? Thanx for any advice!

A. Go to the dealership, they can order a remote, he doesnt have to install a new controller. There are remote starters that has keyless entry, they are cheap and prob need to be professionally installed. Tell him to check out best buy, I got mine installed for like $50

A. Okay, so I went to college at the time when SAT scores were on a scale of 1600 -- before the 3rd component was added. At the time, my highest Reading and Math scores combined gave me a score of 1370. 1370/1600 is in the same basic range as 2000/2400. I didn't get into my top choices (Swarthmore and Haverford), but I did get into Claremont McKenna, which is currently ranked as #11 by USNews. I was waitlisted at Carleton, which is currently ranked as #8. I ended up going to Macalester, which is currently ranked at #29 (because a bunch are tied for #25, which is where it usually is). i loved macalester. I still love it and I'm very involved as an alumna. I guess my point is, don't be obsessed with the top 20 schools. Look elsewhere. A lot… [cont.]

How do you service the transmission on a 2000 Nissan Sentra?
Q. I've read that a transmission flush is not necessary, but changing out the filter is. My transmission fluid looks pretty dirty. I haven't had any transmission service completed since I got the car in 2000. Is changing the filter just as easy at changing an air filter or is it more involved?
Asked by morgan b - Fri Oct 13 11:58:25 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you tranny pan has a drain plug, drain the fluid, and refill the tranny. Measure what you took out and put that amount in. Drive it a few hundred miles and do it again. This will get new fluid into the tranny and torque converter. The filter is just a screen, and I doubt it is clogged or dirty. The pan must be removed if you want to clean it.

Can a 2000 watt generator run an air compressor?
Q. I have a friend with a 2000 watt, 120 volt 16.7 amp generator. Can that run a 26 gallon 1.6 horsepower air compressor? The air compressor would need to constantly be running for about an hour.
Asked by gogreenleafy - Mon Nov 24 18:49:02 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Check the nameplate on the compressor motor. I suspect with startup current factored in you may be approaching the capacity of the generator. If it is an inverter type generator it may not have the surge capacity to get the motor turning. A standard alternator output may accept the overload and manage to get things going. You may be able to reduce surge current by emptying the tank. Starting the motor with no pressure in the tank may allow you to make it work.

How to change the transmission fluid in a 2000 jetta gls?
Q. Hello, I have a 2000 VW jetta gls. This vehicle has an automatic transmission. Currently, it has 103,000 miles. I would like to change the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) to prevent future damge to the transmission. For this reason, I have a few questions. First, what kind of ATF do I need? Second, what specialized tools are required? Third, can anyone provide me with a good protocol to accomplish this task? Thank you
Asked by VW jetta - Thu Aug 9 01:23:33 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The late model VW automatic transmissions have a special proceedure to add fluid to the transmission to refill it once it has been drained. This is the reason that the VW has a "lifetime" automatic transmission fluid. You cannot just drain and refill the transmission; the transmissions use a Volkswagen only supplied fluid for starters; the proceedure requires usage of the VAG diagnostic scanner, running the engine until a certain temp is reached then having the transmission suck the fluid in. The proceedure takes about an hour or so to do, depending on the air temperature and the temp of the engine. You have to do the proceedure with the tool as defined by the factory or you can blow the seals in the transmission. Its important… [cont.]

What is the stock bolt patter for a 2000 jetta?
Q. I have a 2000 jetta and would like to buy some new rims for it. I do not have alot of money, so I am buying them used. I found a couple of different sets on craigs list, but I do not know what bolt patters will fit, and the sellers do not know either. Please help.
Asked by Jim M - Tue Oct 9 13:54:56 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Bear a couple of things in mind when you are replacing rims. One is that it is not just the bolt pattern that matters, but the wheel inset. If the rim is centered differently, too far out it may rub the fenders or too far in it may rub the suspension. Also, changing the inset can cause wheel bearing failures as it changes the leverage on either the inner or outer bearing. Still another consideration is whether or not the used rims are in round. If they are warped in any way they can vibrate and be hard to balance. Still another is that if these are after-market rims and you buy four and one later gets damaged by a pothole or the like, are replacements available? You won't be able to go to the dealer for them, and it would be a shame… [cont.]

A. While Magz is correct in saying a lean mixture burns hotter, there's more to it than that. It's actually the faster propogation of the flame front , increasing combustion pressures. When the mixture is extremely lean, instead of the flame front burning and progressing in an orderly manner outward from the spark plug, it explodes super fast and often times starts burning in isolated places far away from the spark plug. The sudden explosion creates a shock wave (the ping sound), called detonation and it blows away the protective layer of gasses between the top of the piston and the burning mixture. You then have 1000-1200F temperature flames directly against aluminum that melts at 700-800F, melting a hole in the piston.

Asked by maleshawn30 - Mon Nov 19 18:24:35 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There is only one way to change all of the transmission fluid in any vehicle, and that is a transmission flush. Most flush machines either use the transmissions own fluid pump to provide the pressure to flush the unit. The alternative is to remove the transmission pan, clean everything (go ahead and replace the transmission filter while you are in there) then reassemble and add fluid. The problem with a pan drop is that you only really replace about 3-4 quarts of the 8-10 quarts in your transmission. The other 5-6 quarts of fluid are in you torque converter, valve body and lines and cannot be drained out without extensive disassembly. That being said, replacing the 3-4 quarts is better then nothing. Keep in mind that a transmission… [cont.]
