Nounpresidents pl.
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. President is a title held by many leaders of organizations, companies, trade unions, universities, and countries. Etymologically, a "president" is one who presides, who sits in leadership (from Latin pre- "before" + sedere "to sit"; giving the term praeses). Originally, the term referred to the presiding officer of a ceremony or meeting (i.e., chairman), but today it most commonly refers to an official. Among other things, president today is a common title for the heads of state of most republics, whether popularly elected, chosen by the legislature or by a special electoral college. It is also often adopted by dictators. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I am a 17 year old female and I am applying for an army rotc scholarship. My scores for the presidents fitness challenge are 31 sit-ups, 20 push-ups, and 6:44 mile. Are these scores good enough for a scholarship? I'm getting really nervous about this. Asked by Lynne S - Mon Feb 16 16:31:07 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. You're scores are great. Just work on your sit-ups. I'm 17 (female), did 21 push up, 52 sit-ups, mile in 9:30 and earned a full scholarship. You're definitely in the clear as long as you have the academics and extra curriculars to back you up. You're interview is also incredibly important. They won't rule you out based on one thing. You're scores are definitely good enough for a scholarship. Answered by one more month - Mon Feb 16 16:40:55 2009 How did these presidents affect the cold war? Q. He continued NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) which was established in 1949 in hopes to contain communism by forming a military alliance to protect western nations. He continued a more aggressive policy to contain Soviet expansion. Through the Eisenhower Doctrine, economic and military aid were sent to the middle east. As a result, armed assistance to repel communist aggressions was established. Eisenhower was very cautious about risking a war with the Soviet Union therefore he avoided the… [cont.] Answered by Melliebellie - Sun Jun 1 21:48:53 2008 How many presidents can there be at one time?
Q. I need to know for a school project, how many presidents can there be? Asked by John D - Tue Oct 7 12:04:39 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Generally, in business or in the U.S. federal government government, there is one acting president. Once the president of the U.S. leaves office, he can still be addressed as "President" (Clinton, Carter, etc) but he is not the acting president, of course. Not sure if this is what you're getting at. Hope this helps. Answered by patticharron - Tue Oct 7 12:09:36 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "presidents" |
