How would you remove a stripped hex screw from a motorcycle?
Q. I have one more bolt to remove from my rotor cover I'm trying to remove. The bolt is stripped and I'm having trouble remove it, what's the best and easiest way to remove it?

A. If you can get at the head, slot it with a Dremel and use a good screwdriver or impact driver to loosen it. Or, you may be able to drill through the head and get the cover off. Once there is no tension on the screw, the remaining bit will probably back out easily.

A. There is axctually a small drill bit looking thing you can buy called a screw extractor. The screw gets a hole drilled in the center and then you put the extractor into the drill and then into the hole in the screw. It backward twists it. They make several sizes for different screws. Mine are from Vermont American company. Good luck.

A. Is it the lug or the nut that is stripped? If it's the nut that is rounded off, then find a socket that is a little bit smaller and beat it on with a hammer. If it's the lug itself, a cutting torch is the easy way to go on that. I doubt that you have one though. You could use a hammer and chisel to split the nut. Advice on rethreading a stripped screw hole on transmission fluid pan?
Q. I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier. I had been noticing occasional drips of tranny fluid in 3 evenly spaced increments beneath my car. After trying to replace the gasket and filter I realized the people who I had work on my car months ago had stripped 3 holes and had "jerry-rigged" it with loads of silicone. Now I am going to have to rethread the holes to a slightly larger size. Any advice or product recommendations?? Thanks in advance!

We were using an impact gun to screw in the screws, then all of a sudden we heard this awkward noise and everybody looked at me because it was my car! then I asked the person with the impact gun what happened and he said it got stripped. Now The clutch needs readjusting, but I'm afraid If I try to take out the transmission to take out the clutch I can't, because of the stripped screw.

As for the numbers, I am sure that has to do with the weight of the product. Some compounds are mixed with sand and weigh less and therefore dry faster. You can smooth wooded framing with a scrapper called sureform. As for the drywall, it depends on how much wall coverage your talking about...we recently cover our attic with very long sheets of drywall horizontally...it was more cost effective to do it this way.

Q. We're remoldeling our 100+ yr old home. I've stripped wall paper and door frames. How do I fix the holes in plaster and smooth the walls before painting? Fiberglass mesh then joint compound or fix holes then joint compound? Whats the difference between the numbers on the compounds? I've seen 30, 45, and 90. How do I smooth the insides of the door frames, I'm down to the wooded framing. Do I cut down sheets of drywall or can I use the same technique as the walls?

A. If the holes are shallow and not deep, then you should thin layer compound it, then mesh it and let it dry, then compound it again, let it dry and finally sand and paint it. How do you get a really small stripped screw out?
Q. I'm trying to replace the battery in my ipod mini, and one of the screws wouldn't move(i think it's stripped) now these screws are really really small, how can I remove it? I don't have a drill,is there anything else I can do? Also, I have the correct screwdriver size, it worked for the other screws.

A. I recommend going to SEARS and getting a small set of special screw drivers that help get out stripped screws. Ask if they have Screw and bolt extractors that match your size screw.
