How to remove stripped hex headed bolt on power steering pump pulley?
Q. Is it possible to remove a stripped hex headed bolt that connects the pulley to the power steering pump? Well I don't think vise grips are going to work because the bolt is about flush with the pulley. I wouldn't even be able to budge it even if I could, I was using a piece of pipe as a cheater bar to even get it out this far. I am just wondering if it even has some loctite on it.

A. You've got a few choices if you already have it out of the car. You can purchase the extractor tool and attempt the repair on your own. Or you can take it to a reputable local mechanic and let them remove it for you. If it's still in the car for some reason or other, just make sure you center punch the hex nut as close as possible before you drill it with a hardened carbide bit or a quality bit for hardened steel. Good Luck to you

How do you remove stripped screws in Guitar hero controller?
Q. I have a Guitar Hero World Tour controller that has the yellow fret button not working. It is past the 90 day warranty and so I can save myself $50, I am attempting to open the fret board up and readjust the circuit board into position. A few of the screws were stripped when I went to remove them and I have no clue as of how to remove them. Please help if possible. I am on a budget and cannot buy items so I am looking for a household remedy.

A. Call a hardware store. There is a tool that will removed the striped screws. If the hardware store does not have it try Sears and if they don't have it email me as there may be a way I can find one for you.

How would you remove a stripped hex screw from a motorcycle?
Q. I have one more bolt to remove from my rotor cover I'm trying to remove. The bolt is stripped and I'm having trouble remove it, what's the best and easiest way to remove it?

A. If you can get at the head, slot it with a Dremel and use a good screwdriver or impact driver to loosen it. Or, you may be able to drill through the head and get the cover off. Once there is no tension on the screw, the remaining bit will probably back out easily.

A. Is it the lug or the nut that is stripped? If it's the nut that is rounded off, then find a socket that is a little bit smaller and beat it on with a hammer. If it's the lug itself, a cutting torch is the easy way to go on that. I doubt that you have one though. You could use a hammer and chisel to split the nut. If you live in the Kansas City area, let me know and I could come help you out. Good Luck

A. Go to Home Depot, Lowe's, or whatever your nearest hardware store equivalent is, and go straight to its tool section. What you are looking for is called a Screw-Extractor. They make various sizes, so get the one that looks closest to the screw you've got. They can usually be found near the drill bits. There will be instructions on the package, but you can also ask one of the clerks how it works.

A. Of course she was fired because of her supposed "controversial" (yeah right) answer. She even said she cooperated with them and it came as a surprise. I find it odd that journalists originally and continue to portray that her answer was somehow some big story. President Obama gave the same answer ffs. The fact that this even became a story at all reveals just how amazingly bias and tabloid the pc media has become. I hope she sues, it's obvious the committee was against her and were actively searching for any way to part ways.

How much does it cost to professionally get hair dye stripped out of your hair?
Q. I recently dyed my hair black and its naturally dirty blond. I wanna get it stripped but last time I did it myself it came out like 4 colors. Does anybody know about how much it cost for them to do it at a hair salon?
Asked by Lindsey J - Sun Nov 18 23:33:04 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This is corrective haircolor and it is the most expensive salon color service, due to the amount of time involved and the amount of products needed to fix the problem. This is the primary reason why you should have a hairdresser color your hair, so it doesn't come out in 4 different colors. It would cost you less to have that done vs corrective. Most hairdressers charge by the hour for corrective, because it can take a lot of time and products. If a hairdresser normally can make $75 - $100 per hour, on an average day, due to the fact she could do 2 - 3 clients per hour, then more than likely, you can bank on paying about this rate. Hopefully, you will only be in the chair for 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours, so I imagine $100 - $150 will be the… [cont.]

Advice on rethreading a stripped screw hole on transmission fluid pan?
Q. I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier. I had been noticing occasional drips of tranny fluid in 3 evenly spaced increments beneath my car. After trying to replace the gasket and filter I realized the people who I had work on my car months ago had stripped 3 holes and had "jerry-rigged" it with loads of silicone. Now I am going to have to rethread the holes to a slightly larger size. Any advice or product recommendations?? Thanks in advance!

A. i used to work on transmissions and i have had the problem you have many times the best way to fix it is with a heli coil, it replaces the threads that were there, your local auto parts store should have them

How long does it take for stripped membranes to bring on labour?
Q. Mine were stripped about 46 hours ago and I am getting only Braxton Hicks. Also, I have no more blood (only for about 30 minutes).. does that mean it all closed up again? the Braxton Hicks are painful
Asked by mwa - Sat Jun 16 10:39:11 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Maybe hours, maybe days, maybe weeks. Membrane stripping doesn't always work; it didn't work twice for me, I didn't deliver until more than two weeks later. It doesn't "close up" though. Once the membranes are stripped, they are just pulled away from the uterine wall - they are not open or torn or anything - that would be rupturing of the membranes.

Stripped the wallpaper and door frames. How to fix the underlying mess?
Q. We're remoldeling our 100+ yr old home. I've stripped wall paper and door frames. How do I fix the holes in plaster and smooth the walls before painting? Fiberglass mesh then joint compound or fix holes then joint compound? Whats the difference between the numbers on the compounds? I've seen 30, 45, and 90. How do I smooth the insides of the door frames, I'm down to the wooded framing. Do I cut down sheets of drywall or can I use the same technique as the walls?
Asked by Julie C - Fri Apr 4 10:03:54 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If the holes are shallow and not deep, then you should thin layer compound it, then mesh it and let it dry, then compound it again, let it dry and finally sand and paint it. As for the numbers, I am sure that has to do with the weight of the product. Some compounds are mixed with sand and weigh less and therefore dry faster. You can smooth wooded framing with a scrapper called sureform. As for the drywall, it depends on how much wall coverage your talking about...we recently cover our attic with very long sheets of drywall horizontally...it was more cost effective to do it this way.

How do you remove a tiny stripped screw?
Q. I tried to remove a screw from my watch keychain to replace batteries and I accidentally stripped it. The screw is about 2 millimeters long and is still in the same spot as when I started. How can I get it out?
Asked by Ellie - Thu Nov 26 14:47:04 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Use a small, flat-head screw driver that JUST fits inside the largest groove. Use more force pushing down, than turning. That will prevent further stripping and should work. Obviously do not replace the damaged screw. Go to a jewelry store or Walmart and get a replacement.
