How do I replace a broken rear wiper arm on a Hyundai Santa Fe?
Q. The rear wiper arm snapped off when my wife backed into the pickup. Only the wiper arm base remains attached. The post the base is mounted on is threaded. However, when I use a wrench the base doesn't loosen.

A. on the wiper arm there should be a rubber cap covering he nut that holds on the arm, remove cap, remove nut, you may need to pry off the wiper arm or tap it with a hammer to free it from the post, remember tnot to hit the threads causing damage to the wiper motor. good luck

A. you should be able to raise the hood and see the bottom of the wiper arms and there should be a nut holding them on... when you take it off turn the wipers on then back off to let them set back to where they are supposed to be then put the arm back on

A. if i remember right, it's just a 10mm nut holding it on. look at the base of the arm, where it's attached. you can't see the nut, but if you grab it at the end you can pull up the hinged cover that hides the nut.

A. Take the leaf catcher grill off behind the wiper arms, and keep digging. Most likely the nut came off the link from the wiper tranmission to the motor. Some cars have plastic bushings that wear out and break-most are available at the discount auto parts chains in the Help section.

Q. The passenger side wiper arm on one of my cars broke during a recent ice storm. It's still attached, but doesn't move by itself. The car is a 2002 Grand Prix, 3.8l. I have looked on websites for Napa, O'Reilly's, Advance Auto, and Autozone. NONE of them even list a passenger side wiper arm, only a driver's side. Why is this? Are the passenger and driver side wiper arms for this car interchangeable? Are my only options the dealer or a junkyard? It IS the passenger side, so I can safely drive in rain or whatever, but would still like to get it fixed! Thanks in advance. I double checked and the driver's side IS shorter than the passenger side, so they aren't interchangeable.

A. HI! If the motor just hums then its the motor, disconect the wiper linkage from the motor the turn on the wipers to see if the motor runs. Check to and see if something got down inside by the linkage to bind it up. Good Luck!!

A. Did you try to tighten it down. Look at the wiper arm where it attaches to the car. Under the cap...pry it up with a screwdriver...careful not the scratch the @hit out of the car and use a wrench and tighten the nut down...not to hard you can strip the stud...you could use a little lock tight if it backs off again

Lift up on the wiper arm to remove the tension, and slide the tab out with a little screwdriver, then lower the wiper arm down. this removes the tension on the wiper arm shaft. now you should be able to slide the arm up off of the shaft.
